Elizabeth Warren: Mitch McConnell Is Ignoring Me

Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren said Friday Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell won't say hello to her, the Boston Globe reports.

"I've spoken to him, but he has not spoken to me," Warren said in disbelief during an interview about her book, "This Fight Is Our Fight: The Battle to Save America's Middle Class."

"I say hello to Mitch every chance I get, and he turns his head."

McConnell cut Warren off in February when she attempted to read a letter by Coretta Scott King during a speech on the Senate floor. She was explaining her opposition to the nomination of Jeff Sessions for attorney general when McConnell invoked a rule that blocks senators "by any form of words impute to another Senator or to other Senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a Senator."

Sessions was eventually confirmed.

Don Stewart, McConnell's spokesman, said he couldn't give much feedback on Warren's claims. "I've never witnessed that and have never seen her approach him so I'm afraid I can't be much help," he told the Huffington Post.

Warren in her book didn't critique the Democratic Party, telling the Globe "I never lose sight of the fact that Democrats have tried to do more for working people than Republicans. Have Democrats failed? Yes. There have been places where we have not fought as hard as we should, but Republicans as a party have blocked every move that would have helped working families."
