Police in Indiana charged a man with disorderly conduct after he allegedly threw a cell phone in the direction of President Donald Trump Friday.
According to Fox News, the Marion County Sheriff charged William Rose with the misdemeanor crime. He was also intoxicated, the news outlet reported.
As Trump was walking onstage to address the crowd at the National Rifle Association's annual Leadership Forum in Indianapolis, an object sailed through the air and landed to his left. According to multiple reports, the object was a cell phone thrown from the audience.
Video taken from the scene and posted to Twitter shows someone near the front row throwing the object, which bounced harmlessly several feet away from Trump.
The Secret Service told Fox News, "At approximately 12:30 p.m. (ET) today, President Trump was at an event in Indianapolis, IN. As the President was walking onto the stage, but prior to his remarks, a cell phone from the crowd landed on the opposite side of the stage. An individual was removed from the event and the investigation is continuing."
Ironically, Trump threw something into the crowd later during his speech: a pen with which he signed an official document to withdraw the U.S. from a 2013 United Nations arms treaty.
