President Donald Trump, citing remarks he attributed to former Attorney General Eric Holder about expanding the Supreme Court, renewed his call Monday night for Republicans in Congress to "terminate the filibuster."
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Holder as an "Obama sycophant" and said he had "emphatically stated" Democrats would "PACK the Supreme Court of the United States if they get the chance."
Trump wrote that Holder wanted "21 Radical Left Activist Judges," rather than the "15 that they were seeking," and warned such a move would "destroy our Constitution."
Holder has recently endorsed a more aggressive Democrat push on Supreme Court changes, saying in an interview that if Democrats regain unified control in Washington, they should pursue "court reform" that includes term limits and could include expanding the size of the court, framing the current justices and their recent decisions as a driving force behind the effort.
Trump then urged Republicans to change Senate rules to eliminate the filibuster, casting it as the way to prevent Democrats from taking those steps if they return to power. He said ending the filibuster would lead to "an easy WIN of the Midterms" and "an even easier WIN in the Presidential Election of 2028."
"The American People don't want gridlock, they want their Leaders to GET THINGS DONE," Trump wrote, adding: "TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, AND HAVE THE MOST SUCCESSFUL FOUR YEARS IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY, BY FAR."
Trump also referenced a coming government funding deadline, writing that ending the filibuster would mean "NOT EVEN THE HINT OF A SHUTDOWN OF OUR GREAT NATION ON JANUARY 30TH!"
In November, during the government shutdown, Trump also warned Senate Republicans they are headed for "disaster" unless they abolish the filibuster.

The word is, he wants 21 Radical Left Activist Judges, not being satisfied with the heretofore 15 that they were seeking. It will be 21, they will destroy our Constitution, and there's not a thing that the Republicans can do about it unless we TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, which will lead to an easy WIN of the Midterms, and an even easier WIN in the Presidential Election of 2028. Why would the Republicans even think about giving them this opportunity?
