Former President Donald Trump is set to address members of the National Rifle Association (NRA) as the keynote speaker for the group's Great American Outdoor Show, on Feb. 9 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
It will mark the eighth time the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination has spoken to NRA members, the organization said in a news release.
The NRA said the event is the world's largest outdoors show, spanning nine days and featuring more than 1,000 exhibitors. Last year, it said 200,000 NRA members attended, celebrating hunting, fishing, and outdoor traditions.
"President Trump's unwavering support for the Second Amendment, and his track record of protecting the rights of gun owners make him an exemplary speaker for this momentous event," NRA President Charles Cotton said in the news release. "His fellow NRA members can't wait to hear from him for the eighth time."
Said Randy Kozuch, executive director of the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action: "President Trump's presence at the Great American Outdoor Show is a testament to his ongoing commitment to our constitutional freedoms. His leadership has been crucial in safeguarding the rights of hunters, sportsmen, and all Americans who cherish our outdoor heritage."
Trump's speech will occur a day after the Nevada caucuses that will determine the state's delegates for the Republican National Convention July 15-18 in Milwaukee. Nevada also is holding a state-run primary on Feb. 6, but no delegates will be awarded among Republicans because, unlike the caucus, it is not affiliated with the state's GOP party. Nikki Haley, the lone remaining Republican challenger to Trump, is only on the primary ballot, and Trump is only on the caucus ballot.
