President Donald Trump and House Republican leaders are expected to seek a delay in their challenge on Obamacare subsidies, Politico reports.

"The parties continue to discuss measures that would obviate the need for judicial determination of this appeal, including potential legislative action," the House and White House wrote in their request to the court for a 90-day extension.

"We feel payments should continue while we figure out a solution," a GOP source told the Washington Examiner. "The Justice Department is working with House Republicans in good faith to achieve this."

A spokeswoman for House Speaker Paul Ryan told Politico, "We continue to work with the Trump administration on a solution."

Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California, who helped create the Affordable Care Act, criticized the request.

"In merely delaying their suit, Republicans cynically continue to sow uncertainty in the health coverage of millions of Americans," she said to The New York Times. "At a critical period when insurers are deciding premiums for next year, Republicans are pouring uncertainty into the health insurance marketplaces."
