"Lost Boys" star Corey Feldman popped the question to Canadian girlfriend Courtney Anne over the weekend because, he said, he is fearful that President-elect Donald Trump will deport her.
"We didn’t want to risk being separated by new immigration laws," Feldman, 45, told People.com. "We both know that we make a good team, and don’t want to be separated for any reason. So this is the best decision to protect our relationship."
Anne, 27, is a model who has been with Feldman for four years. Feldman proposed to her in Palm Springs last weekend via a yes or no note. The pair will marry in a small ceremony with only family, Feldman told People.
Trump, who beat Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in a surprise landslide, ran on the promise that he would deport millions of illegal immigrants living in the United States and build a wall between Mexico and the U.S. He softened his stance a bit over the weekend when he told CBS's "60 Minutes" he would first deport illegal immigrants with criminal records and, after the border is secure, decide what do with the other undocumented immigrants.
"After the border is secure and after everything gets normalized, we’re going to make a determination on the people that they’re talking about who are terrific people, they’re terrific people but we are gonna make a determination at that," he said. "But before we make that determination... it’s very important, we are going to secure our border."
