President Donald Trump’s campaign announced on Tuesday it is planning to sue former communications aide Cliff Sims for violating a non-disclosure agreement by publishing a tell-all book about the White House, Newsweek has reported.
“The Trump campaign is preparing to file a lawsuit against Cliff Sims for violating our NDA,” tweeted Michael Glassner, the executive director of the president’s campaign committee.
The announcement came the same day that Sims’s book “Team of Vipers: My 500 Extraordinary Days in the Trump White House” was published. In the book, which takes an inside look at Trump’s turbulent presidency, Sims depicts the administration as “completely out of control.”
USA Today reported that Sims described the book as telling the story “of staffers who couldn’t seem to decide whether serving their country meant serving their president or undermining him."
It also details several examples of the president’s obsession with television news and positive coverage of himself.
Trump slammed the book and its author on Twitter.
“A low level staffer that I hardly knew named Cliff Sims wrote yet another boring book based on made up stories and fiction,” the president wrote. “He pretended to be an insider when in fact he was nothing more than a gofer. He signed a non-disclosure agreement. He is a mess!”
