The Cleveland Indians have donated a playoff share worth nearly $37,000 to the relief effort in two Puerto Rican hometowns of two of its star players, Cleveland.com reported.
The team donated $36,783 to the communities of shortstop Francisco Lindor and catcher Roberto Perez, and the wives of Indians ballplayers donated another $4,000 to relief efforts on the island ravaged by Hurricane Maria, Cleveland.com reported.
"I'm not surprised," Indians manager Terry Francona told Cleveland.com. "That's one of the things I'm probably most proud about that guys want to give back."
The Indians won the AL Central last year, earning 62 full playoff shares, Cleveland.com reports.
