An acrobat plunged to his death during a Cirque du Soleil Volta performance Saturday night in Tampa, Florida, the show announced, per Fox News.
"The entire Cirque du Soleil family is in shock and devastated by this tragedy," Cirque du Soleil wrote in a statement to Fox News on Sunday. "Yann Arnaud had been with us for over 15 years and was loved by all who had a chance to know him."
Arnaud fell to his side after hovering 15 feet above the crowd and was not responsive when colleagues rushed to his aid, according to the report.
The show stopped for the night and the patrons will be refunded.
"One of the aerial straps artists of Volta by Cirque du Soleil fell during his performance on stage in Tampa," a Cirque du Soleil spokesperson wrote in a statement to Fox 13, per the report. "The artist was immediately carried out of stage to receive assistance.
"In order for the Volta team to focus on the health of the artist, the rest of the show has been canceled. We will stay in contact with the members of the audience who had purchased tickets for the show."
Cirque du Soleil's first onstage fatality came in October 2013, when Sarah Guyard-Guillot fell 94 feet; also, ex-Olympian Lisa Skinner was injured in an aerial hoops act in November 2016 from a 16-foot fall, according to the report.
