Obama to Tour Jersey Shore With Christie

President Barack Obama will reunite with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to tour hurricane recovery efforts along the Jersey Shore.

The duo will meet up on Tuesday, Politico reports. It will be the first time Obama has returned since he and the governor viewed damage from a helicopter and visited with residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Christie, a Republican, was criticized by some in his own party for publicly praising the Democratic president's efforts to get federal relief to his state. The hurricane hit just before the November election, and critics felt he may have given Obama an advantage in what was a tight race with Republican Mitt Romney.

Christie said politics had nothing to do with it.

But Politico notes that both men may get a boost from Tuesday's visit. Obama is in the midst of three scandals that touch his administration and would like the focus of the press redirected. Christie is facing re-election, and Obama can only help him in a majority-Democrat state.
