Gov Christie: No One Cares About What Bannon Says

Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., pushed back Monday at Stephen Bannon's criticism of him for alleged disloyalty to President Donald Trump during the campaign — saying "no one is really going to care" what Bannon says since leaving the White House.

In remarks to PBS's "Newshour," Christie dismissed Bannon's recounting to "60 Minutes" of Christie's disloyalty after a lurid 2005 Access Hollywood tape was revealed — and how it cost him a White House job and landed his name in Bannon's "little black book."

"I was offered Cabinet positions by this president,” Christie said, "so I suspect this little black book that Mr. Bannon is talking about, the only one who read that black book was Mr. Bannon himself."

"I know that no one else cared about it," he said. "And now that he's been fired, no one is going to really care about anything else Steve Bannon has to say."

Christie added after the tape was revealed, "I spoke the truth directly to the president of the United States."

"And I didn't need to go on the air or do it publicly or to self-aggrandize myself now, as, you know Mr. Bannon is doing by giving a '60 Minutes' interview," he said. "This, I suspect, is his last 15 minutes of fame. And that's fine. I hope he enjoys it."
