The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) denied a recent report that said officials had been told certain words were banned from agency documents, the Washington Examiner reported Sunday.
"I want to assure you there are no banned words at CDC. We will continue to talk about all our important public health programs," Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald tweeted on Sunday.
On Friday, The Washington Post reported the White House had instructed the CDC not to include seven words or phrases from documents submitted for President Donald Trump's budget next year. The words included "evidence-based," "science-based," "vulnerable," "entitlement," "diversity," "transgender" and "fetus."
