House Minority Leader tweeted "DANGER" in response to a new White House directive that bans seven words or phrases from official budget documents.
"Trump Admin is going further down a dangerous and un-American path of word and thought control," Pelosi tweeted Saturday.
Administration representatives made the announcement to officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta on Thursday, The Washington Post reported Friday. The words are "evidence-based," "science-based," "vulnerable," "entitlement," "diversity," "transgender" and "fetus."
Alison Kelly, who works in the CDC Office of Financial Services, led the meeting but did not give a reason for the change. The ban relates to words used in documents pertaining to President Donald Trump's 2019 budget, expected to be released in February.
