Brian Williams' late-night MSNBC show is doing so well in the ratings that the network may move him to an earlier spot in its evening lineup, a new report claims.
According to Page Six, "11th Hour With Brian Williams" has bested shows on CNN and Fox News in the 11 p.m. ET time slot for the last three months. That could mean Williams may host a show as early as 7 p.m. ET, when the potential audience is larger.
"Brian's done an amazing job of keeping his head down and working," an MSNBC source told Page Six. "He hasn't tried to take any victory laps at MSNBC."
"Hardball with Chris Matthews" currently airs at 7 p.m. ET.
Williams anchored "NBC Nightly News" from 2004-2015 before he was removed from the program after it became clear he made up facts and embellished others about his time reporting from war zones and other hostile areas of the globe.
Williams was suspended for six months and lost his "Nightly News" anchor seat because of the controversy. "11th Hour" began in 2016 and has been a ratings success.
MSNBC issued a press release this week that said Williams' show is the No. 1 rated cable news show at the 11 p.m. ET hour. Its ratings this month were up from February 2018.
