On the eve of President Donald Trump's long-delayed U.K. visit, a group projected a video of Prime Minister candidate Boris Johnson trashing then-candidate Trump in 2015, calling him "out of his mind," "portraying a quite stupefying ignorance," and suggesting he was "unfit for office."
"I think Donald Trump is clearly out of his mind, if he thinks that's a sensible way to proceed – you can't ban people going to the United States in that way, or indeed to any country," Johnson said in the video projected on the base of Big Ben by anti-Brexit activists.
The activists' video of Johnson speaking to the media about pre-campaign talk of banning Muslims from the United States was tweeted to President Trump before his visit to the Kingdom on Monday.
"When Donald Trump is saying there are parts of London that are no go areas, I think he's portraying a quite stupefying ignorance that makes him frankly unfit to hold the office of president of the United States," Johnson continued on the video comments made to a U.K. news station in 2015 before Trump won the Republican nomination.
The anti-Brexit activists' video comes in contrast to positive comments Johnson and President Trump have shared for each other before the visit, which might include a meeting between the two.
Johnson did say in 2015 he would take Trump to "see the whole of London," before adding another slam.
"I would invite him to come and see the whole of London and take him round the city . . . [but] I wouldn't want to expose Londoners to any unnecessary risk of meeting Donald Trump."
