Iran's amping up of uranium enrichment as leverage in talks with Europe against U.S. sanctions have a potential President Donald Trump primary challenger pouncing to place blame.

Former Gov. Bill Weld, R-Mass., who has sought to oppose President Trump in a Republican primary for 2020, ripped the president for a "colossal blunder" and "a counterproductive disaster" in a tweetstorm:

"Thanks to President Trump's withdrawal from the 2015 agreement among our European allies, Iran, and the United States, Iran today announced that it is now on its way to being able to produce nuclear weapons. 1/4

"It is now clear that Mr. Trump's petulant cancellation of the non-proliferation agreement was a colossal blunder. He has put the United States in a position of increasing danger, and gotten absolutely nothing in return. 2/4

"Mr. Trump's ego-fueled foreign 'policy' of insults, tariffs, sanctions, threats, bluster and isolationism has been a counterproductive disaster. 3/4

"Time for new leadership in Washington! 4/4"

Gov. Weld's fledgling GOP primary hopes are a longshot, raising under $700K in the time President Trump's re-election campaign has raised $105 million, according to ABC News.
