Biden's Annual Physical Pushed Back

President Joe Biden's annual physical will be completed Feb. 16, more than two weeks later than the White House previously said, The Hill reported.

The medical results will be "released publicly in the same manner as last year," a White House spokesperson said, noting that the delay "was just a matter of scheduling around what has been a busy and evolving travel schedule in recent weeks."

The Feb. 16 physical will be a week after Biden's State of the Union address Feb. 7. He is expected to announce in the coming months that he will run for a second term.

Biden, who turned 80 in November, last underwent a physical in November 2021. At the time, Dr. Kevin O'Connor reported that Biden "remains fit for duty, and fully executes all of his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations."

The doctor singled out two areas of "observation" for detailed investigation: an "increasing frequency and severity of 'throat clearing' and coughing during speaking engagements" and Biden's ambulatory gait, or walking abnormality, which O'Connor said was "perceptibly stiffer and less fluid than it was a year or so ago."

Biden does not drink or smoke, CNN reported.

Biden has a history of atrial fibrillation, takes blood thinners, and is on medication for cholesterol, seasonal allergies and reflux that has caused persistent coughing and throat-clearing, The Washington Post reported.

Questions about Biden's physical and mental fitness have persisted since he began his presidential run in 2019 and throughout the first two years of his term, The Washington Post reported. If Biden wins a second term, he will be 82 at his inauguration in 2025 and 86 at the end of a second term.
