Biden Jokes of Feigning Interest in Obama's State of Union

Monday, 26 January 2015 07:21 AM EST

If Vice President Joe Biden looked captivated by last week's State of the Union address, chalk it up to good acting.

Biden is joking about having to force himself to pay attention as he sits behind President Barack Obama during the nationally televised address, despite knowing everything in it beforehand.

Biden says it's a role his wife plays all the time. He says Jill Biden tells him she has to sit through countless of his speeches while pretending to be interested and to listen.

Biden says he now joins her in the "good wives' club."

The vice president cracked wise during an interview airing this week on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He's promoting youth sign-ups for health insurance through government exchanges ahead of this year's Feb. 15 deadline.
