Biden Nods to Haley on National Debt: 'What She Said'

By    |   Thursday, 24 August 2023 11:51 AM EDT

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s polling is barely flatlining in the GOP presidential primary, but she got a shoutout from an unlikely source during Wednesday night’s first Republican debate — the White House.

President Joe Biden mostly trolled the candidates in Milwaukee on social media site X (formery known as Twitter) during the debate, save for Haley’s comments about the national debt increasing during former President Donald Trump's first administration.

“You have Ron DeSantis, you’ve got Tim Scott, you’ve got Mike Pence — they all voted to raise the debt,” Haley said in the clip attached to Biden’s post. “And Donald Trump added 8 trillion to our debt, and our kids are never gonna forgive us for this.”

Biden’s post: “What she said.”

Biden also took an apparent swing at Vivek Ramaswamy — along with another plug for Haley — in later post on X. Ramaswamy called climate change a hoax during the debate while Haley asserted that though climate change is real, “there is a right way to do it.”

“Climate change is real, by the way," read Biden's post.

Haley, who is polling at 3.4%, according to the FiveThirtyEight aggregate, is in a battle for a distant fifth place with Tim Scott and Chris Christie.
