Democrats comprising the minority on the House Select Committee on Benghazi not only beat their GOP peers with their version of the facts, they also launched a preemptive strike on chairman Trey Gowdy.
"Chairman Gowdy has been conducting this investigation like an overzealous prosecutor desperately trying to land a front-page conviction rather than a neutral judge of facts seeking to improve the security of our diplomatic corps," according to
The Washington Post.
Further, the Democrats said the panel led by Gowdy "squandered millions of taxpayer dollars in a partisan effort to attack a presidential candidate."
However, Gowdy has said the report of the GOP-led committee will not focus on Hillary Clinton as much as it will the facts, the four people who died, and the Obama administration for impeding and stonewalling the investigation.
Though a bi-partisan committee, Gowdy and the Republicans became increasingly frustrated with the Democrats defending Clinton with "rehashed talking points," which led to the two reports, according to the Post.
The
Republicans' majority report on Benghazi was released earlier Tuesday.
