Authorities have arrested a man accused of making death threats against conservative host and writer Ben Shapiro and his family.
TMZ cited law enforcement sources to report that police in Kent, Washington teamed up with the FBI and the Secret Service to take the suspect into custody Wednesday.
The threats against Shapiro, his wife, and daughter were "extremely serious," a source told the website.
Shapiro confirmed the arrest on his Twitter account, responding to TMZ's story by writing, "Thanks to local and federal law enforcement for their quick and hard work here. Stay safe out there, everyone!"
Shapiro is the editor-in-chief of The Daily Wire, hosts a radio show, and appears on several cable news programs. He often gets under the left's skin with his commentary.
During last year's midterm elections campaign, he offered $10,000 to then-Democratic House candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez if she would debate him. Ocasio-Cortez, who won her election, declined the invitation.
