The city of Baltimore surpassed 100 murders this week, after two teenagers were murdered in the past few days.

A 16-year-old, whose name has not been released, was shot and killed around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday near the Mary Rodman Recreation Center by a basketball court in the southwest part of the city, according to CBS Baltimore.

Police Commissioner Darryl De Sousa said the murder was "unacceptable," that the victim was "known to police," and had a gun and drugs in his possession.

"He's not a number to us. He's someone who had a family… Not just his life is lost, but everybody is destroyed behind this."

Mayor Catherine Pugh said the next morning: "This was not just somebody playing on the basketball court. But let me just say this to you all: No child, no child, no death in this city is acceptable, and we've got to get guns out of the hands of our children and we've got to get guns out of the hands of those who are carrying illegal guns on our streets."

17-year-old Ray Glasgow III was killed on Saturday while sitting in a parked car with his friends on Eden St. in southeast Baltimore. An unknown person approached the vehicle and began shooting, killing Glasgow and wounding his friend. Glasgow was captain of Baltimore City College High School's lacrosse team and an excellent student, according to CBS.

This was a case of mistaken identity," De Sousa said. According to police, none of the people in the car were the intended victims.

"Detectives have been working on this case since Saturday, and have yet to stop," he added. "We're not going to stop until that trigger puller is behind bars."
