Ari Fleischer, who was White House press secretary under George W. Bush, said special counsel Robert Muller should appear before Congress, even though he said in his speech on Wednesday that he would not.

“Despite Mueller’s wishes, he needs 2appear before Congress/take questions, Fleischer wrote on Twitter. “The Ds can’t hold themselves back. They want to impeach - and so they likely will start the process. That means Mueller should answer Qs. I don’t agree w impeachment, but once it starts, Mueller must speak.”

Fleischer also wrote an earlier tweet concerning Mueller’s speech by taking aim at former FBI Director James Comey, saying “Mueller is the anti-Comey. He wants no PR. He doesn’t seek nor does he need the spotlight. He won’t write any op-eds. He lets his work speak for itself. “

In the morning on “Fox & Friends,” Fleischer slammed Comey’s latest op-ed Wednesday, saying he left out three very important words: “We were wrong.”

“None of what they investigated turned out to be true,” Fleischer said. “So why doesn’t James Comey, the humble man that he is, have the courage to say, ‘we got it wrong and we put our nation through two years of misery alleging these people colluded with Russia’?”
