A new report claims Apple is developing cars of the future out of a secret office in Berlin.
According to
AppleInsider, which cites a German news report, there are 15-20 employees at the office. They reportedly specialize in engineering, software, hardware, and sales.
A larger group working on Apple's car project, known as "Titan," is comprised of more than 1,000 employees somewhere near the company's Cupertino, Calif. headquarters.
The Wall Street Journal reported last fall the so-called iCar is an electric car that is expected to be introduced in 2019.
An AppleInsider
story from 2015 confirmed Apple was developing a car and that it had been recruiting engineers from Tesla, which makes electric cars.
In January, it was reported that the executive leading the car's development
left Apple for personal reasons.
Apple made headlines recently when it refused to help the FBI break into an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino terrorists. The Bureau eventually found a way into the phone without Apple's help, likely
with the assistance of a group of professional hackers.
