Several journalists rallied around reporters who were cursed, and manhandled at a raucous protest by an estimated 200 antifa protesters in Charlottesville, Viriginia.
The radical left group, whose name stands for "anti-fascist," swarmed into Charlottesville a day ahead of Sunday night's planned "Unite the Right" rally, but quickly turned on reporters covering the event, demanding their cameras be turned off and then slapping them out of their hands.
NBC reporter Cal Perry documented the "ugly" aggression— which included verbal attacks on police officers.
Commentary's writer Noah Rothman summed up the venom by the group with a prediction that "Tomorrow will be bad."
But CNN's Brian Stetler and Jake Tapper both condemned the group's anti-media and anti-cop aggression.
The Washington Free Beacon's executive editor, Sonny Bunch, also weighed in.
Perry himself brushed off the attacks and vowed to maintain his coverage despite the antifa aggression.
