A Republican seeking to fund police in Portland saw his gubernatorial campaign rally invaded and attacked allegedly by black-clad Antifa protesters hurling smoke grenades, paint-filled balloons, and fireworks, video on Twitter shows.

"Portland #Antifa militants carried out an organized attack on Sandy, OR mayor @StanPulliam & his supporters, which included families & children," prominent riot journalist Andy Ngo tweeted. "Pulliam, a Republican, is running to be Oregon's governor. Two suffered injuries from Antifa's mortar fireworks."

Oregon GOP gubernatorial primary candidate Stan Pulliam noted Portland Police Bureau (PPB) took more than 20 minutes to respond to the political violence near police headquarters in downtown Portland.

"More footage from PDX as Antifa attacked our campaign supporters," Pulliam tweeted. "No surprise ... underfunded police didn't show in time to allow our free speech. #FundThePolice #WarOnWoke #orpol #orgov."

Police issued a statement, denouncing the attack.

"Paint and larger fireworks were being thrown, and significant explosions were heard in the area," according to police, which are seeking information from the public in the investigation.

Pulliam, who is the mayor of Sandy, Oregon, vows to jail Antifa members committing political violence.

"The days of Antifa ruling the streets of Portland are about to end," Pulliam wrote in a statement, outlining his proposed moves to defend free speech against Antifa violence.

"A group of Oregonians attempted what used to be protected free speech — showing up to a peaceful campaign rally in Portland," the statement began. "The fact that this was not possible is a sign of the slow decay that has taken hold of our state and once beautiful city of Portland.

"For the past year, I have been talking about the need for real leadership to end the violence on our streets. Today I am issuing my plan to end Antifa's control of Portland for good."

Among his plans if elected governor, according to the statement:

  • Triple the size of the state police, restoring them to their former strength.
  • Deputize a portion of the state police as U.S. marshals in order to charge Antifa and other violent criminals with a federal crime.
  • Deploy the National Guard to stop riots.
  • Use every resource available to identify the individuals who have been terrorizing Portland on a regular basis and bring them to justice.
  • Defund Antifa by stopping all state public and rental assistance to anyone convicted of rioting on the streets.
  • Launch investigations into public servants who have been covering up for and ignoring the violence, including Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt.

Pulliam, a law and order candidate, is campaigining on restoring order for all residents of Portland.
