OpenAI: Pentagon Deal Has Stronger Guardrails Than Anthropic's

Saturday, 28 February 2026 04:19 PM EST

OpenAI said on Saturday that its agreement with the Pentagon "has more guardrails than any previous agreement for classified AI deployments, including Anthropic's."

Open AI firm said that the contract struck on Friday to deploy technology in the U.S. Defense Department's classified network enforces three red lines: no use of OpenAI technology on mass domestic surveillance, no directing autonomous weapons systems and no high-stakes automated decisions.
