Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci continued with his criticisms of President Donald Trump Monday, saying his former boss' attendance and behavior while at the Group of Seven (G-7) summit has been an "unmitigated disaster."
"His 'American First' strategy is becoming 'America Alone,'" Scaramucci told CNN's "New Day." “He’s more or less been isolated by the other leaders. The French government brought in the Iranian foreign and finance ministers to discuss things without even letting the president of the United States know."
Scaramucci also predicted that after the Labor Day holiday, a "very large group" of Republican business leaders will speak out about Trump's actions.
"Obviously business leaders around the world have issues with the tactics and strategy of the trade war," he said. " There have been grievances that are real. The Europeans have them. So do the United States' business leaders."
Scaramucci further questioned Trump's state of mind, saying he's been sending mixed signals. On Friday, Trump asked whether Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell or China's President Xi Jinping was the biggest enemy of the United States, but on Monday called Xi a "great leader."
The president also last Friday announced new tariffs on $500 billion in Chinese goods and said he'd order American companies to cease ties with China.
“I’ve been saying for the last two weeks that he’s melting down at the core,” Scaramucci told CNN. “A couple more weeks like this, I think it is an unmitigated situation. You’ve got to get Republican leaders to come in and say the truth as some point.”
