In the first round of voting in the NPR Top Political Story of the Year Bracket, all the top seeds advanced easily, with the exception of former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci's 10 days on the job breezing past the New York truck attack in which eight people were killed, NPR reported on Wednesday.
In the second round, Scaramucci is pitted against the Charlottesville white supremacist violence in which a counter-demonstrator was killed.
Scaramucci took a playful tone about the survey in a tweet he sent out, expressing confidence that he could win.
Scaramucci's making light of the Charlottesville incident upset many people, with one writing in response that "Charlottesville+torches. You're extra douchee today," according to the Washington Examiner.
Before joining the Trump administration Scaramucci was a successful businessman, and since being fired from the White House after giving a profane interview, he has considered becoming a member of the media himself.
