Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said Monday he's pulling together former officials from President Donald Trump's cabinet to denounce the commander in chief before the 2020 election.

"This is not a 'Never Trump' situation," Scaramucci, who until recently had supported the president, told CNN's "New Day." "This is an organized process. Well, again, it would not be fair for me to bring up their names right now. But I will predict that in the middle to late fall, there will be a trove of people that will come together in unity and say, okay, look, this is what's going on. This is how the person's acting."

Scaramucci said that voters must have information before allowing Trump to remain at the "top of the government all alone," as he is taking no advice from anyone inside the White House. "People in the know have to express that to give the voters that information."

Scaramucci, who lasted just 11 days in the White House, insisted his call is "not just screeching rhetoric because Trump is "unstable."

"Everyone inside knows it, everyone outside knows it," Scaramucci said. "Let's see if we can find a viable alternative."

Trump, in response, fired off two angry tweets at Scaramucci, calling him a "highly unstable nut job" who "wheedled his way into my campaign...now Fake News puts him on like he was my buddy!"

Scaramucci has not endorsed any Republicans in a challenge against Trump but said the GOP must offer a "viable" candidate to run against him.

South Carolina Rep. Mark Sanford, who is considering a bid against Trump, told NBC Sunday the president does not deserve re-election. Former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld is actively challenging Trump for the nomination.
