Three American students studying in Cairo have been caught up in the unrest spreading across Egypt. The three have been arrested and charged with taking part in the deadly protests now in their fourth day,
The Washington Post reported.
The three, who attend the American University in Cairo, have been identified as Luke Gates from Indiana University, Gregory Porter of Drexel University, and a third student from Georgetown University. The third student wasn’t named because his parents had yet to be reached, the Post reported.
The three are accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at Egyptian security forces. Lisa Anderson, the president of American University Cairo, said the three young men are students at the school and that the university is working with U.S. embassy officials to secure their release.
