A Republican who is a Jamaican-American businesswoman will challenge Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., as a Republican next year, saying she is a bridge-builder who prioritizes her constituents.

"Your representative in Washington chooses self-promotion over service, conflict over constituents, resistance over assistance," Scherie Murray said in a YouTube campaign video announcement Wednesday, CNN reports. "Queens and the Bronx need someone who will create jobs, instead of turning them away."

Murray, 38, ripped Ocasio-Cortez for endorsing a congressional pay raise, proposing the "job-killing" Green New Deal — and she attacked the freshman congresswoman for her efforts to "kill the Amazon deal in New York."

Ocasio-Cortez bitterly criticized the deal last year after city officials offered $1.53 billion in incentives for the project, which was expected to create 25,000 jobs.

But Murray's campaign video does not mention President Donald Trump nor the Republican Party, CNN notes, yet her Facebook page features a picture of her with Trump in a June birthday post.

Murray's bid is a long shot, however.

The New York district, the 14th, has been hugely Democratic in recent election cycles, with Ocasio-Cortez winning by 78.2% last year and former Rep. Joe Crowley winning in 2016 with 82.9%.

Murray even tweeted her congratulations to Ocasio-Cortez when she defeated Crowley in November.

According to her biography, Murray came to the United States at age 9. She won less than 10% of the vote in a 2015 race for the 29th District in the New York Assembly, running as a Republican under the Reform Party banner.

In 2004, Murray founded a media company, the Esemel Group, and has served on the New York State Republican Committee.
