Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is trying to capitalize on pushback from several Democrats who have discussed finding her a challenger in the 2020 primary.

"We expected pushback. Today we got it," Ocasio-Cortez's campaign manager Rebecca Rodriguez said in an email to supporters, according to The Hill.

"We always knew the establishment would stand in our way. We just didn't expect them to come after us so hard and so fast."

The email then asked supporters to donate at least $3 to Ocasio-Cortez's 2020 campaign.

Ocasio-Cortez, 29, was sworn in earlier this month.

The Hill reported earlier Tuesday that at least one Democratic member of the House has proposed putting up another Democrat to challenge Ocasio-Cortez next year.

"What I have recommended to the New York delegation is that you find her a primary opponent and make her a one-term congressperson," the unnamed Democrat said. "You've got numerous council people and state legislators who've been waiting 20 years for that seat. I'm sure they can find numerous people who want that seat in that district."

Ocasio-Cortez pushed back on Twitter, saying, "That broken mentality, that public office is something you wait in line for, instead of earning through hard organizing, is exactly what voters want to change. Shows you how disconnected some folks here are."
