Trump-Aligned Super PACs Launch Voter Registration Effort

Two leading groups that support President Donald Trump's reelection in 2020 are kicking off a voter registration drive that aims to add 1 million new voters.

The Great America PAC and the Committee to Defend the President PAC announced their joint effort on Wednesday, which they dubbed the "Great America Voter Drive." The goal is to add 1 million Trump voters to voter rolls nationwide, with a particular focus on some key battleground states.

Ed Rollins, who previously worked as former President Ronald Reagan's national campaign director ahead of the 1984 election, is now a strategic adviser for the Committee to Defend the President.

"Since Inauguration Day, President Trump has worked diligently to make America great again," Rollins said. "We are proud to support his efforts by registering hundreds of thousands of Trump voters for the 2020 election and getting them out to vote for his 'America First' agenda. Together, our two groups are uniquely positioned to continue the programs that helped elect President Trump and will re-elect him in 2020."

The first part of the "Great America Voter Drive" will include spending more than $1 million and will pay particular attention to registering new Trump voters in Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Phase two will include national bus tours that will visit states such as Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, and New Hampshire.

The Great America PAC and the Committee to Defend the President PAC have spent in excess of $55 million to help Trump since the 2016 campaign.

There are 24 major Democratic candidates running to unseat Trump in the upcoming election, including frontrunner and former Vice President Joe Biden — who leads Trump in Texas, at least according to one poll.
