Media Get It Wrong — Again — in Ferguson

By Wednesday, 29 October 2014 09:29 AM Current | Bio | Archive

The irresponsibility of our leftist–dominated media is a continuing scandal that contributes to divisiveness and blinds the public to the genuine problems America is facing. The template or trigger for these outbursts is always race, but it’s race in a particular combination.

An armed white person has to shoot an unarmed black person for the media pack to become interested. And frankly the shooter doesn’t even have to be all that white if he has an Anglo–Saxon last name as the “white Hispanic” George Zimmerman found out to his dismay.

Once the gun smoke has cleared the deceased undergoes a beatification ceremony much like the Catholic Church affords those welcomed into sainthood. In Trayvon Martin’s case it began with using a photo that was years out of date portraying him as a smiling boy. The media reported that he was only out to buy candy and tea when he was “ambushed” by an armed vigilante.

The wall–to–wall media coverage made wearing a hooded sweatshirt a symbol of the injustice of the power structure toward minorities, rather than mere preparation for cooler temperatures. The controversy cost the chief of police his job, ruined Zimmerman’s marriage and made him a nationwide pariah.

The truth proved to be tricky.

It seems that Martin was as tall or taller than Zimmerman, the cries for help were never proven to be his, the 911 tape where Zimmerman talked about “coons” was actually a comment on the cold, and Martin allegedly started the fight by sucker-punching Zimmerman as he was returning to his car.

Now it’s déjà vu all over again in Ferguson, Mo.

The same reckless, anti–American media that lionized Martin has a new hero in Michael Brown.

Brown was a “gentle giant” that recently graduated from high school and was heading for college. He was peacefully walking home when an overzealous local cracker in a cop’s uniform shot and killed him while Brown was on his knees trying to surrender.

This time, members of the media are with the riotous crowd inciting protesters with biased coverage and reveling in the spotlight when they manage to be arrested, too. Ferguson,  is a shambles; law–abiding taxpayers’ lives and property are disrupted and/or damaged; and a police officer will no doubt soon be a former police officer.

The truth is trickling out slowly, hindered by an incompetent police chief and city administration.

Minutes prior to the police confrontation the “gentle giant” conducted a strong–arm robbery and stole cigars typically used to smoke dope. Brown was walking down the middle of the street endangering himself and traffic when the police officer asked him to move.

Toxicology reports show Brown had marijuana in his system, and he may have been hallucinating as he attacked the officer, pinning him in his cruiser and attempting to take his gun. Brown suffered a gunshot wound to the hand in that struggle and turned to flee.

The officer extricated himself from the cruiser and ordered Brown to stop. Instead of the “hands up, don’t shoot” fable pushed by media and dishonest racial agitators, the evidence shows the much larger Brown charged the officer and was shot dead for his trouble.

None of this bothers the inaccurate, credulous, and arrogant media. Reputations have been made — just ask Anderson Cooper the hero of Katrina — and reporters can milk their “courageous” Ferguson reporting for the rest of their career.

The damage the mainstream media has done remains invisible to the rest of the country because the horde has moved on to other stories.
