'Soul of the Nation' May Wither, But Left's Intolerance Will Reelect Trump

Both politicians at the top of the ticket in the Democratic Party like to call the election a fight for the "soul of the nation."

Neither one understands what truly constitutes the nation’s soul.

It’s tolerance. Tolerance constitutes the very soul of America.

A desire for religious tolerance is what brought the Pilgrims to our shores.

The tolerance for speech, thought and ideas, as well as religion, is inscribed in the First Amendment to the Constitution.

Yet tolerance is being challenged in the city streets, university classrooms, and even the halls of Congress by an intolerant left.

An Iowa State University English instructor warned her students that they weren’t allowed to air their own opinions.

Chloe Clark’s English 205 class syllabus included warnings in bold print, that students weren’t allowed to participate in racism, sexism, and the like in her classroom.

Her warning closed with the following:

"The same goes for any papers/projects," Clark’s statement continued, "you cannot choose any topic that takes at its base that one side doesn’t deserve the same basic human rights as you do (i.e. no arguments against gay marriage, abortion, Black Lives Matter, etc.)"

Intolerance for ideas that clash with our own inevitably leads to violence, as we’ve seen lately in large Democratically-controlled cities like New York, Chicago, and Seattle.

That violence escalated in Portland, Oregon Monday night when Black Lives Matter rioters pulled a man out of his vehicle and beat him unconscious, ending in a roundhouse kick to his head.

And the violence is even promoted in some circles.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley, a Massachusetts Democrat, appeared to support violence during an appearance on MSNBC Saturday.

"This is as much about public outcry, organizing and mobilizing and applying pressure. So that this GOP-led Senate and these governors that continue to carry water for this administration, putting American people in harm’s way, turning a deaf ear to the needs of our families and our communities — hold them accountable," Pressley told MSNBC host Joy Reid.

"Make the phone calls, send the emails, show up. You know, there needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there’s unrest in our lives."

She’s not alone. A student columnist for the Daily Cal, a student newspaper serving UC Berkeley, recently argued in favor of "violent resistance" in a column he titled, "This War Can’t Be Civil."

Khaled Alqahtani wrote, "You may want to lead a silent march instead of setting a police station on fire. Sometimes, that may work best. What I’m criticizing is the constant rejection of violent resistance on grounds of respectability."

U.S. data scientist and computer hacker Emily Gorcenski suggested a way to learn the identity of Trump supporters to post their names, addresses and other personal information online for purposes of harassing them.

Observing the numerous Trump boat parades scattered throughout the country, she posted this tweet Monday: "Does anyone have high quality images of the Trump Boat rally that show boat names or registration numbers so that I can start doxing?" she asked.

The tweet closed with, "ANTIFA are better than Patriots."

Later, she either deleted the tweet or Twitter removed it.

Last week Minnesota Democratic state House candidate John Thompson went on a profanity-filled rant directed at children and neighbors of a police union leader.

Using a loudspeaker, he screamed a question at the crowd, asking if "we give a f**k about burning" down a town.

He added, "We’re coming after everything you have."

Thompson, an African American, recently won his primary race, and received Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s endorsement.

Not content to merely promote rioting, a Virginia state senator, along with several other officials, actually engaged in rioting.

Sen. Louise Lucas participated in the June 10 destruction of a Confederate monument in Portsmouth, Va., and was charged with two felonies on Monday: Conspiracy to commit a felony and injury to a monument in excess of $1,000.

Both former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., like to say that the 2020 election is a "battle for the soul of the nation," and they’re right.

What they don’t understand is that tolerance constitutes the nation’s soul, and that they, their party, and others on the left are the ones that are destroying it.

The current state of national intolerance — one that’s been growing for more than a decade — sent Donald Trump to the White House in November 2016.

It will keep him there, beginning Nov. 3, 2020.
