Barack Obama’s long-time confidante Valerie Jarrett is reported to be moving into the Obama’s new rented mansion to join the former president and first lady — just two miles away from the White House.

They are continuing the living arrangement that had been in effect while Obama was president. Jarrett had lived in the White House and dined with the Obamas, while dispensing her Rasputin-like advice. "There was never any doubt that Valerie would have a suite of rooms in the house that the Obama's are renting," said a family source quoted by the Daily Mail (DailyMail.com). "Obama trusts her judgment more than any other person on the planet, as does Michelle. Obama doesn't make a decision without her."

This troika appears to be ready to more overtly take the lead of an insurgency campaign already underway to delegitimize the Trump administration, with the objective of bringing about regime change at the top.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder declared about his former boss, "He's coming. And he's ready to roll."

Please, Mr. Obama, do us a favor. Enjoy your retirement, play some golf, work on your new book. But stop compounding the damage you caused at home and abroad when you were president by trying to undermine your successor’s efforts to repair your damage.

Obama’s fervent supporters will argue that Obama is entitled to exercise his First Amendment rights and speak out on actions by the Trump administration that concern him — just like every other private American citizen is entitled to do. That’s true, even though Obama would not be extending the same courtesy to President Trump as former President George W. Bush had done for Obama in forbearing from publicly criticizing him after Bush left office.

However, Obama appears to be countenancing a far more sinister plot by Obama holdovers in the federal bureaucracy, especially from within the intelligence services, the White House national security staff, the State Department, and the Justice Department.

Their clear objective is to discredit the Trump administration with leaked, cherry-picked portions of sensitive classified information to pliant media outlets.

The purpose is to portray key members of  Trump's administration as having been in cahoots with the Russians during the presidential campaign. The leaks, and behind the scenes efforts by organizations created by or supportive of Obama to exploit them, are nothing short of an attempted bloodless coup by disgruntled losers to unseat the duly elected 45th president of the United States.

Obama should immediately put out the word to his supporters to stop their disinformation campaign and let duly authorized congressional and law enforcement investigations of alleged Russian interference with the election proceed in the normal course.

Obama has not done that, however. Instead, he and his Rasputin-like Valerie Jarrett are poised to sow more discord and pounce on any sign of weakness within the new administration caused by the leaks.

The disinformation plot began during the waning days of the Obama presidency when, according to a front page article in The New York Times on March 2,  "some White House officials scrambled to spread information about Russian efforts to undermine the presidential election — and about possible contacts between associates of President-elect Donald J. Trump and Russians — across the government."

They spread the information even to government bureaucrats without security clearances, paving the way for leaks from potentially multiple sources entrenched all over the federal bureaucracy, after the new administration took office.

First, the Obama holdovers and their sympathizers used leaks to successfully bring down former National Security Director Michael Flynn. Now they are intent on going after Attorney General Jeff Sessions for allegedly covering up, during his confirmation hearing, the fact that he had two conversations in the past year with Russian Ambassador, Sergey I. Kislyak.

There is no proof that Attorney General Sessions discussed anything to do with the campaign in the course of such conversations, which was the context of the questions Democratic senators had asked him about his past contacts with the Russians.

As senator at the time himself, who served on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Mr. Sessions conversed with a number of ambassadors, including those from Britain, Japan, China, Germany, as well as from Russia.

So what! That was part of his job!

As with Flynn, President Trump’s enemies in the Obama-Hillary Clinton crowd, along with an obliging media, are going after Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ head by willfully manipulating public opinion with half-truths.

If there is any real news story coming out of the leaks, it is the utter failure of the Obama White House to detect, much less thwart, the cyberattacks by Russia and other adversaries of the U.S. during Obama’s presidency.

That constituted dereliction of duty by the former president.
