Black Lives Matter is accusing the NRA and Dana Loesch of inciting violence.

Recently a member of Black Lives Matter, Los Angeles (BLM LA) stated, "When the NRA issues a public call to their constituents, inciting violence against people who are constitutionally fighting for their lives, we don’t take that lightly."

She was responding to a NRA video featuring Dana Loesch, in which nowhere does Mrs. Loesch call for violence except in a metaphor of using truth to defeat violence. Even if taken out of context as a true call for violence, she advocates for using it in a defensive manner, which is both legally and morally appropriate!

Ignoring this fact, the BLM misrepresents the ideology of NRA members repeatedly.

BLM perpetuates the tired automatic leftist response of racism against law-abiding gun owners.

BLM doesn’t understand that there are only approximately 12,000 firearm homicides per year. Of those, approximately 25 percent are from inner city and gang violence in just the top 10 cities in the U.S. That means in a country of 316 million people, there are only approximately 8,700 firearm homicides. You have a 0.00002766 percent chance of getting killed by a firearm if you aren’t in a gang or major city. Compare that number to yearly totals of about 42,000 unintentional poisonings, 34,000 motor vehicle deaths and about 32,000 unintentional fall deaths.

BLM doesn’t understand that the gun community hates the rare, but highly publicized firearm homicides, school shootings, mass murders and other evil instances. Every time a gun is used in a crime, even when it’s an illegally purchased or owned weapon, it reflects upon every gun owner. The same logic does not hold true for any other class of people.

When Islamic terrorists attack, we are repeatedly told to not blame all Muslims. San Francisco will not release video of a mob attacking people on its trains because it would "unfairly affect and characterize riders of color, leading to sweeping generalizations in media reports."

When was the last time the media offered this type of defense of the reputations of law-abiding gun owners? Even when there are inner-city shootings, guns get blamed, not the criminals. Somehow it will get twisted into a gun debate and the aspersions will be cast on NRA members. How many thugs and gang-bangers do you think pay NRA dues every year?

I think the message of the NRA, including the aforementioned video featuring Dana Loesch, is pretty clear. It’s that all Americans have a right to defend themselves from any violence, no matter who is perpetrating the action against them. The NRA does not care about your skin color. They want gun owners of all races. When a law-abiding gun owner puts a criminal in his cross hairs, the only color he/she focuses on is that of their front sight post or reticle.

It’s not a stretch to say that most NRA members believe that the more well-trained gun owners there are in this country, the better it will be for all of us.

No, NRA protests aren’t violent. NRA rallies do not burn down buildings. The NRA does not prevent those with opposite points of views from speaking at colleges and universities. We just want to protect the right to defend ourselves, our loved ones, our community and our country.

Lastly, I will say to all leftists, the NRA is not a lobbying giant of faceless businesses. The NRA is comprised of over 5 million ordinary American citizens who only want the right to defend themselves with the firearms of their choosing. If it wasn’t for the Second Amendment and private gun ownership, crime rates and incidents of violence would be much higher. However, bad guys know that some good guys will shoot back.

Trust me, if 5 million law-abiding, gun owning NRA members were prone to violence, you wouldn’t need to read a newspaper or watch TV to know about it.
