The twin pillars of radical leftwing Democrat thinking are that there should be “sanctuary” in the United States for all illegal aliens and that there should be no question on the 2020 Census questionnaire dealing with “citizenship.”
These radical pillars are meant to reduce the United States of America’s sovereignty and legitimacy as a nation, to dilute the United States into a third-world country, and to make the United States a socialistic ward of moneyed oligarchs.
The sanctuary movement — establishing sanctuary states and cities for illegal aliens — is political sop to illegal aliens, but more importantly to create Democrat voters. The sanctuary movement is funded by oligarchical-minded billionaires. Sanctuary is myth and has no basis in American law as the case law demonstrates.
California is leading the way in declaring itself a “sanctuary state” and criminalizes anyone that disagrees. The Democratic legislative majority and governor steamroll radical leftist policies into law as they ignore the U.S. Constitution and federal law, again, these politicians are funded by billionaire money.
The Census authority is set forth in Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution which uses the term “Numbers” to define who should be counted for apportioning Congressional Representatives and the Electoral College.
In March 2018, the Department of Justice (DOJ) asked the Department of Commerce (DOC) to include a question about the citizenship of the respondent(s) to the Census questionnaire. DOJ offered that the question was meant to protect the rights of minorities under the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Hysterical assaults by radical Democrats over the question of citizenship on the Census questionnaire — “Are you a United States citizen?” — are pure socialist theatrics. This simple citizenship question also set off a firestorm of a psychoneurotic emotions by Democrats of all sorts, immigration/open-borders promoters, and California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.
California also leads the way in attacking the constitutionality of the Census’s citizenship question.
Many California U.S. citizens state that the Democratic officials should be more concerned about the crimes committed by illegal alien gangs, the rising homelessness of vagrants, and the resulting lack of sanitation of the homeless, the rising poverty of the state population, the rising demands for social welfare entitlements for immigrants and other non-citizens, and the daily departure of middle-class families — all of which deeply impact the state’s financial stability.
Watch, California will demand the U.S. Congress bail it out of financial bankruptcy.
Democrats and radical leftists argue that the citizenship question is meant to “unconstitutionally undercount” and discriminate against minorities. The Democratic opposition rationale defies logic and merely demonstrates an anarchical mind-set funded by oligarchy-minded billionaires like George Soros.
It is a matter of choice, to answer or not answer, the Census questions. No Hamlet soliloquy needed.
Additionally, Democrats and anarchists assert that such a question — citizenship — is meant to undercut and embarrass immigrants and to reduce Federal funding to California, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York, and cities like Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.
These Democrat strongholds rely on federal money and any diminishment of federal welfare and entitlement money weakens the Democrat control, thus the outcry.
To keep the federal funding from being reduced by the citizenship question, 19 leftist-leaning state attorneys general have filed lawsuits to eliminate the “citizenship” question. One of their arguments is that the question is unconstitutional as it scares non-citizens from participating in the Census, thus undercounts population, and disproportionally effects their states.
Referring to the citizenship question, “It is a scare tactic to scare Latinos and others from participating in the 2020 census,” opined Arturo Vargas of the National Association of Latino Elected & Appointed Officials (NALEO).
Mr. Vargas’s statement ranks as one of the most inaccurate and spurious statements any illegal alien advocate offers. Will the citizenship question scare hardened and combative illegal border-crossers? Not likely!
However, if the purpose for the citizenship question is to accurately determine how many citizens are in particular local so that Congressional seats and electoral votes maybe properly assigned, then only citizens should be counted. Legal non-citizens should be counted for use in determining other services.
Lastly, the Democrats say that answering the citizenship question will lead to deportations. False!
By law, the release of Census information is restricted, any Census information could not be used to detain, arrest, nor deport any person. Obviously, Democrats consider Hispanic citizens and other citizens are dullards — unable to think for themselves and know the law.
The U.S. Congress, Senate and House, are to be elected by citizens, ergo, the nation has the right to know how many citizens reside in a locale. Non-citizens, legal or illegal, do not have any right to vote in American elections, regardless of what Democrats say.
The sovereignty and legitimacy of the United States would be diminished and dissolved by the votes of non-citizens.
