Israel's Leader Denies Crisis with US

Sunday, 22 May 2011 01:30 AM EDT

WASHINGTON (AP) — Israel's leader says reports of disagreements between Israel and the U.S. over Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking have been blown "way out of proportion."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has criticized President Barack Obama's call earlier this week to base future talks on Palestinian statehood on Israel's borders before it captured the West Bank, east Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip in the 1967 Mideast war.

But on Saturday, Netanyahu told The Associated Press that "the disagreements have been blown way out of proportion" by the media.

Netanyahu says, "It's true we have some differences of opinion, but these are among friends."

Netanyahu met with Obama at the White House on Friday.
