Unions Target Wis. Senators for Recall

Union supporters in Wisconsin have launched a recall effort targeting Republican state senators who backed Gov. Scott Walker’s move to curtail collective-bargaining rights by the state’s public employees unions.

Wisconsin allows recall efforts to begin one year after a lawmaker is elected. Eight Republicans are now eligible for recall.

Recall petitions require a number of signatures equal to 25 percent of the votes cast in the last governor’s election in a district, the newspaper disclosed — a “high hurdle but achievable for such an emotional issue.”
