The country may be in the worst recession since the Great Depression, but that hasn't stopped the lion of the Democratic party from offering a special limited edition of his upcoming book -- and demanding that buyers cough up a $1,000 a copy!
Kennedy, ailing from brain cancer, has a new book -- "True Compass: a Memoir" -- due out in October. The book lists for just $35 and you can buy it on Amazon for $23.
But a special imprint of the book will be published with just 1,000 copies -- and "electronically" signed by an autopen Kennedy has apparently authorized.
If the book sells out, Kennedy's publisher will pull in a cool $1,000,000 from the limited edition alone.
Kennedy himself has already raked in a hefty $8 million from the publisher of the hard cover.
Who will buy Uncle Ted's $1,000 tome?
Probably not any of those supposedly rich Republicans Kennedy has spent his career complaining about. Instead, count on a circle of wealthy liberal friends who made their fortunes off of government contracts, not to mention a long line of fat cat government lobbyists wanting to curry favor.
