Iowa Rep. Steve King says he won’t endorse presidential candidate Michele Bachmann until he reviews the entire GOP field, even though he considers the Minnesota congresswoman a good friend, according to
Politico.
“I want to weigh all these candidates objectively,” King said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “She carries a tremendous resume and a tremendous list of qualities. But still, I, like everyone — [I need] to measure who would make the best president of the United States. I already know who would make the best friend — but we need to weigh who would make the best president of the United States.
“I want to sit back for awhile, get into September, and see how these candidates conduct themselves,” King said. “But she’s done very, very well here — and I congratulate her on her victory and I’m thrilled for her.”
King also rejected national polls that show Bachmann and Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, who finished first and second in the straw poll respectively, would lose to President Barack Obama.
