Some Democratic liberals continue to urge President Barack Obama to refrain from compromising with Republicans in Congress, despite the GOP’s resounding victory in the midterm elections. The latest is George Soros, one of the Democratic Party’s biggest donors, who wants the White House to renew its efforts on climate change and immigration reform, even though those stances would be rejected by the Republican-controlled House,
Politico reports.

Soros says wealthy liberals should target their donations to organizations that will push the president and congressional Democrats on liberal policies rather than groups supporting individual candidates, according to a source at a meeting of major Democratic donors this week.
“George was talking about how, in the context of the election, progressives are disappointed, and that they should keep [the Obama administration] focused on certain issues that we should be promoting,” the source says.
