Sharron Angle Raises $14 Million in Quarter

By    |   Tuesday, 12 October 2010 04:44 PM EDT

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle raised an impressive $14 million between July 1 and Sept. 30 for her race against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada.

Sharron Angle, Harry Reid, NevadaHer total for the three months surpasses the fundraising of every other prominent candidate running for a Senate seat in November, according to Chris Cillizza’s “The Fix” column in the Washington Post.

"Sharron Angle produced one of the most successful single quarters of fundraising in the nation's history for a U.S. Senate campaign," said Angle communications director Jarrod Agen.

"This is a testament to the hatred of Harry Reid, the nation's disapproval of President Obama, and the unprecedented grass-roots support for Sharron Angle."

Reid has not released his third-quarter fundraising totals. As of mid-summer, he had raised nearly $14 million so far this year.

Angle’s two GOP rivals outspent her heavily during the primary campaign, but she won the race in large part because of strong support from the tea party movement.

Cillizza reported that the only candidate in modern memory to have topped Angle’s fundraising total was Republican Scott Brown, who raised $14.2 million ahead of his win in the Massachusetts special election for the Senate in January.

Angle and Reid have been running neck-and-neck in the polls.
