Santorum: Healthcare Could Doom Romney

The Massachusetts healthcare law enacted in 2006, when Mitt Romney was governor, could derail his bid for the presidency, says former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, Politico reports. He’s another likely Republican candidate for the job.

santorum, romney, healthcareThe new federal healthcare law constitutes the "most important issue" of the presidential election, Santorum told Fox News Tuesday. And the similarity between the Massachusetts law and Obamacare won’t do Romney any good, he said.

“We'd better have a candidate who is out there and very, very strong in opposition to government-run health care and focuses on a healthcare system that centers on you, not on the government," Santorum said. "That, I think, is a problem for Governor Romney this time around."
