Romney Gets Facts Wrong on Iraq

By    |   Wednesday, 21 December 2011 07:14 PM EST

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney apparently got his facts wrong about the Iraq war this morning in an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd.

“The president went in based on intelligence that they had weapons of mass destruction. Had he known that that was not the case, the UN would not have put forth resolutions authorizing this type of action, the president would not have been pursuing that course," Romney said, according to Politico. "But we did not know that."

As Politico later reported, the United Nations never authorized the Iraq war. It was the U.S. Senate that took up the authorization question.
