Romney Takes on Social Issues with Huckabee

Sunday, 02 October 2011 06:13 AM EDT

WASHINGTON (AP) — Onetime Republican presidential rivals Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee have sparred again, this time on Huckabee's cable news show.

During a prime-time interview on his Fox News show Saturday, the former Arkansas governor-turned-television host pushed Romney to defend his record to social conservatives.

Huckabee's endorsement has been sought by other Republican hopefuls since he decided not to run for president again. He appeared to use the interview to lay the groundwork for potentially supporting Romney.

Romney is trying to win over many of the socially conservative Republicans who supported Huckabee over the former Massachusetts governor in 2008.
