Democrats are finding out – just as Republicans did in 2008 – that it doesn’t help to be an incumbent when the economy has major problems. Friday’s news that the country’s payrolls fell 95,000 in September, while the unemployment remained at 9.6 percent gave Republicans plenty of ammunition, The Hill reports.

(pictured). "Over the past two years, the policies pursued by the president and Democrat leaders in Congress have created a cloud of uncertainty and fear that has inhibited productivity, innovation and job creation."

The jobs data should define the economic debate until Election Day, says Rep. Pete Sessions, head of the National Republican Congressional Committee.

“This report is not only the final affirmation of the failed job-killing policies of Washington Democrats, but it frames the national political debate from now until Election Day."
