Polls Show Florida Gov Race Is Tight

Friday, 29 October 2010 09:17 AM EDT

The last three polls show the Florida governor's race still too close to call -- putting pressure on both candidates and their political parties to turn out their base voters, according to St. Petersburg Times report.

sink, scott, close, pollsSink (pictured) leads Scott by 3 percentage points in a Mason-Dixon Polling & Research survey.

Sink leads by 4 percentage points in a Quinnipiac University poll.

Rasmussen Reports has Scott with a 3 percentage point lead over Sink.

Each is within the polls' error margins. Furthermore, the Quinnipiac survey found that 9 percent of those who favor a candidate indicate they could change their mind by Nov. 2.

Sink leads thanks to the support of independent voters and the fact that registered Democrats significantly outnumber registered Republicans in Florida.

"A very large Republican turnout margin seems to be the only shot Scott has to win this race," Mason-Dixon pollster Brad Coker opined.
